Besigye says that after a long walk towards freedom, the oppressed Ugandans are now charged and can take on the struggle themselves with or without opposition leaders.
Besigye says that the State may have the military might and detain leaders but it cannot silence voices of the 40 million Ugandans.
Besigye says that the government panicked because opposition leaders wanted to attend MP Robert Kyagulanyi's trial in the army court martial.
Earlier Luke Oweyasigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson defended the deployment at the homes of the opposition leaders' homes saying they had received information that they were planning to cause violence in the city.
Besigye is currently detained at Nagalama Police Station.
