Local government officials have been warned against being disrespectful while demanding for better services.
Parliamentary Public service and local government accounts committee has warned local government officials against being disrespectful while demanding for better services.
This is after the chairperson of Uganda local government association and also Lwengo district chairman George William Mutabazi confirmed that one of the local leaders poured water on the minister of Justice Kahinda Otafiire recently.
Otafiire delegated to address them on behalf of the president at their meeting in Namboole.
But MPs faulted the local leaders saying that it was not necessary to mobilize all the district chairpersons, councilors, mayors among others to meet the president and this would have been the work of the executive of the association.
The local government officials are demanding for salary increase and they demanded that the president address them on the matter.
The committee chairperson who is also Aringa North MP Godfrey Onzima says that the issue of salary increase is a serious matter and will cause a meeting of ministry of local government and the association executive to find a solution.
